Should I pay for Colorbook? An honest guide

Short answer: most students do not need to pay. The free tier is a complete practice tool. Here is how to tell whether one of the plans is worth it for you.

Published 5 October 2026 · 4 min read · from the team behind Colorbook, a free digital SAT practice tool.

If you are sitting mocks, reviewing them and improving, the free tier is enough. The plans are for students who want more AI help on top — mostly Deep Dives, and time with Colorbook Tutor.

What free already gives you

The whole bank of 2,000+ questions, every practice mode, full adaptive mocks, the diagnostic, one full report a week, Your Plan with a score projection, 25 AI credits a day for summaries and Colorbook AI, and three minutes with Colorbook Tutor to try it. New accounts also get one Deep Dive free. None of that is a trial.

When a plan is worth it

When not to pay

If you have not yet sat a full mock, start there — it is free, and it tells you what you would be paying to fix. If your test is months away and you are improving steadily, keep the money. And if you only want the odd Deep Dive, a pack of 10 costs ฿59 · US$1.99 with no subscription.

Why the plans cost what they do

Deep Dives and the tutor run on large AI models that cost money every time they are used. The prices are set to cover that and the card fees, with what is left going into the shared pool that pays for everyone's free credits. You can cancel in one press, and what you paid for runs to the end of its period.

Do I need to pay to use Colorbook?
No. The question bank, every practice mode, full mocks, a weekly full report, Your Plan and 25 AI credits a day are free, and every new account gets one Deep Dive to try.
Which Colorbook plan should I choose?
Plus if you keep repeating the same mistakes, Pro if your test is close and you review daily, Max if you want an hour a week with the tutor. A pack of 10 Deep Dives suits occasional use.
Can I cancel a Colorbook plan?
Yes, in one press from the plans page. It keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.

2,000+ questions, full-length adaptive mocks, and a report on how you worked. Free.
