The SAT in Uzbekistan: registration, test centres and a free plan

More and more students in Uzbekistan sit the SAT, for US universities, for universities elsewhere that accept it, and for scholarships. Here is how to go about it, and how to prepare without paying for a course.

Register through a College Board account, check the College Board’s test-centre search for centres in Uzbekistan on your chosen date, and prepare with official Bluebook tests plus free adaptive mocks. Dates, fees and centre lists change, so take them from the College Board’s SAT Suite site.

Can you take the SAT in Uzbekistan?

The SAT is offered at test centres in many countries, and the place to check Uzbekistan is the College Board’s own test-centre search. Search for each date you are considering, because the centres open for a given date, and the seats left at them, vary. Register early: popular centres fill well before the deadline. If nothing suitable is listed, the alternative is a centre in a neighbouring country, which means planning travel and any visa well in advance.

Whichever centre you use, the test itself is the same digital SAT taken everywhere: 98 questions, 2 hours 14 minutes of testing, two sections of two modules each, and a 10-minute break, all in the College Board’s Bluebook app. How the digital SAT works covers the structure.

Registering from Uzbekistan, step by step

  1. Create a College Board student account. Enter your name exactly as it is written, in Latin letters, on the passport or ID you will bring. A mismatch between your registration and your ID can stop you from testing.
  2. Pick a date and a centre from the test-centre search.
  3. Upload a photo that meets the College Board’s rules.
  4. Pay the fee online. Check the payment methods the College Board accepts before you start. Some students find that a locally issued card is declined for international payments; if that happens, sort out an accepted payment method well before the registration deadline.
  5. Install Bluebook on the laptop or tablet you will test on, and complete exam setup before test day.

Check the College Board site for current fees, deadlines and ID rules for international test takers. We do not reproduce them here because they change.

Which universities students from Uzbekistan use the SAT for

The main use is applying to universities in the United States, where policies range from test-required to test-optional and differ by university and by year. Some universities outside the US, including some international universities and branch campuses, also accept SAT scores for admission. Admissions rules change, so confirm on each university’s own admissions page whether it accepts the SAT, whether it is required, and how scores are used. Scholarship programmes sometimes ask for a score as well.

What score to aim for

There is no single good score. The useful target is the one for the universities on your list. Many universities publish the score range of the students they admit, often as a middle-50% range, on their admissions pages. Aim for the middle of that range or above for the universities you care most about, and use a free mock to see the gap from where you are now. Check each university’s current figures rather than relying on lists online.

Your practice score is only an estimate until you sit an official test. Colorbook’s score calculator explains how estimates are made and why they come as a range.

A free 8-week plan

WeekWhat to do
1Sit a full-length adaptive mock (free in Colorbook, no account needed) or a Bluebook practice test. Review every mistake. List your three weakest topics in each section.
2–3Topic practice on those weaknesses, 30–45 minutes a day. Grammar rules (Boundaries; Form, Structure, and Sense) and linear equations usually pay back fastest.
4Second full mock. Compare topic by topic: what moved, what did not.
5–6Keep drilling what is still costing points. Add timed sets to work on pacing: about 71 seconds a Reading and Writing question, 95 a Math question.
7Two full papers under real conditions, at the time of day your test starts. One of them a Bluebook test.
8A final Bluebook test early in the week. Then light review only. Nothing heavy in the last two days.

The reasoning behind this shape is in the study plan guide. If you have more time, stretch weeks 2–6; the start and the end stay the same.

Practising when English is your second or third language

Many students in Uzbekistan study in Uzbek or Russian and meet the SAT in their second or third language. The digital format is kinder to that than the old paper test: every Reading and Writing question has its own short passage, so you never have to hold a long text in your head.

Maths questions are in English too, so practise word problems as well as equations. The Desmos graphing calculator is built into the app for the whole Math section, and practising with it before test day saves time.

Practising with Colorbook from Uzbekistan

Colorbook works in the browser from any country. Full adaptive mocks, the 2,079-question bank (1,136 Math, 943 Reading and Writing), practice by topic, the diagnostic and a learning plan are free, and no account is needed to sit a mock. The interface is in English, like the test. Optional plans that add more AI help are priced in US dollars in Uzbekistan: Plus US$1.99, Pro US$5.99 and Max US$16.99 a month. Most students do not need one. For the bigger picture, see the guide to the SAT for international students and free digital SAT practice.
